June 1, 2021 – Carmel Valley, California: A wrong way driver killed a woman on the I-5 Tuesday morning in Carmel Valley. The woman’s name has not been released, but she is believed to have been 52 years-old and traveling as a passenger in a Honda.
The collision was head-on and happened on the southbound I-5 near the transition ramp to State Route 56. According to the California Highway Patrol, the wrong way driver was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes in a Dodge Magnum.
A subsequent collision occurred when the 32-year-old driver of a Ford pickup truck collided into the then-stopped Dodge Magnum.
The 52-year-old woman tragically succumbed to her injuries. The driver of her vehicle and another passenger are believed to have suffered severe injuries as well as the drivers of the other 2 vehicles that were involved.
