The investigation is ongoing, but it is believed Jasmine Amesquita and her baby were killed in a crash around 2:23 pm on June 6, 2021 when a head-on crash occurred near Deep Creek Road and Poppy Road in Apple Valley. Per California Highway Patrol, both of them were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

For unknown reasons, the driver of a Toyota crossed into northbound traffic on Deep Creek Road, colliding into Jasmine’s vehicle head-on. The driver of the Toyota suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to Loma Linda Medical Center for emergency medical treatment. There were also 3 minor passengers in the Toyota who are believed to have suffered injuries. They were also airlifted to the hospital.

At this time neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have contributed to the crash, according to California Highway Patrol. If you have information that might help police with their investigation, please call California Highway Patrol at 760-241-1186.

April 23, 2021 – Apple Valley, California: 26-year-old Barstow resident, Gerardo Mendoza, was killed in a crash Thursday. He was identified by San Bernardino County’s Coroner’s Office following a crash at the intersection of Stoddard Wells Road and Dale Evans Parkway in Apple Valley. The crash occurred on April 22, 2021 at approximately 9:26 p.m.

Deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department responded to the scene and investigated the crash. They determined a 29-year-old female Pacoima resident was driving a gray 2016 Nissan Altima eastbound on Stoddard Wells while Mr. Mendoza was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro northbound on Dale Evans Parkway.

Deputies determined Gerardo Mendoza was killed in the crash, pronouncing him deceased at the scene. His two passengers were transported to a nearby hospital. The driver and passenger of the Nissan were also transported to a nearby hospital.

Apple Valley Police Department officials are currently investigating whether drugs and/or alcohol impairment were contributing factors to this incident.
